December 23, 2013

Sounds like we will do the Google chat this Christmas!!!

So today is going to be a little short, I will talk to you in a few
days. Also am I going to be able to talk to John?

So this Christmas Eve we will be eating at the Stake President's house
with his family, they have a fun family tradition. On Christmas we
will be having a breakfast with the Winders and their family, we have
invited our investigators that don't have family to spend the day
with. We are bringing 3 extra people to the Winders for dinner:)

I am going to be better at carrying my camera with me this week so I
can send pictures to all of you! Sorry I have been so bad about
sending pictures!!!

Thanks again for all that you do and I look forward to seeing you
soon! Have wonderful week, talk to you soon.

Love Elder Nelson!
PS- here's a picture of George...

December 16, 2013

I didn't know Amelia got a new name, its cute. I always keep them in
my prayers! I hope it all works out for them:)

Oh Scott Curry... Was he the one with the Bees? I hope things work out
for her in Hawaii, I am sure she is doing good in Hawaii though haha:)

You will have to have Maria and Dirk give me some tips for working
with the Spanish District! I don't really know how to get things going
forward in Spanish! Any tips would be great:)

You got to love the grandkids tough:) I am sure that wont be the last time it happens!

I will check and see if I got anything for Christmas! Also could you
send a few ties? Maybe some brighter colors? That would be so
awesome:)

I am super excited for Isaac and Hannah! 2 Months that is so soon, I
can't wait to see her.

Tell Emma I said congrats and to keep it up! She is definitely your
prized possession:) love you and wish you all the best!

So sad to hear about the Seeley's! I would have never guessed, and yes
Justus was my age. Is Justus still in St. George? I saw him on campus
at Dixie State awhile ago, it was really good to see him and the
growth that he had made.

Hope all is well I love you and Wish you a good week. Talk to you soon!

December 9, 2013

Hey Mom,

Thanks again for the pictures! St. George looks good with a little
snow! We got a lot of snow over the weekend, we have been below
freezing for the whole week and it gets down to about 6-7 each night.
I have everything I need to stay warm though.

Doing missionary work has been hard the last 2 weeks in our area, It is
finals week and everyone just got back from thanksgiving break. We
were still able to stay active in our work and find meaningful things
to do.

So did the Skype thing work?

Our mission president came out with us the other day which made things
really fun. We talked to a lot of people and got to set a baptismal
date with one of our investigators! I learned a lot being out with
President Winder he is a great example in missionary work. When we go
to the air port to pick up newly arrived missionaries we usually see
who can talk to more people and talk about the gospel. Not in a
competitive way or anything; he saw me doing it the first time we went
to the air port so now he is starting to do it and we have fun with it
haha.

We had something come up in the Spanish Zone with a District so now
Elder Dearborn and I will be giving the weekly district meeting
trainings. We are pretty excited about that!! Too bad we don't speak
any Spanish haha, we will make it work though.

Elder Dearborn and I are working really hard to get things going in our
mission!!! He is a computer wiz!!! So he makes office work go a lot
faster, it helps with a lot of the small detail work that we do.
We are going to be teaching a class at BSU for 15 minutes then have a
Question and Answer at the end, we are going to be speaking on the
plan of salvation so we are hoping to get a lot of success from it.. I
will let you know!

Anyway It seems that the family is doing great tell them I said hi! I
love them and love you and Dad! Hope all is well have a wonderful day.
Love Elder Samuel Nelson!

December 2, 2013

Mom,

That is so good to hear about Isaac and Hannah! Do they have a name picked out?
I miss the whole family! It seems like their is so much going on
without me, everyone is growing up so fast!

Yes I will be able to skype you on Christmas, as far as I know I will
be able to. I will just need to make sure I have a place to go.

We just had a transfer meeting, a lot of it came in last minitute so
we had a lot of unplanned expectations happen today. My new companion
is Elder Dearborn from Denver Colorado, he is a good missionary and a
very patient Elder so I enjoy being with him. While we walked through
Wal-Mart I was able to talk to 5 people about the gospel... We are
doing great work and lots of stuff is getting done.

We are getting 33 new missionaries tomorrow so we have a whole day
planned out for that! We have a whole day dedicated to training and
getting them ready for the mission.

I am learning so much and am being carried by strength I didn't know I
had. I am so thankful for coming out on my mission! It will no doubt
help me succeed in life.

Anyway I love you and hope all is well, Have a great day say hi to
everyone for me. Love Elder Nelson

Stake report from Elder Nelson

Where do I start with the blessings of serving!

1. I have had the oppurtunity to serve others and build relationship that will last a life time.
2. I have the most joy when I see people make changes in their lives, it truly is a first hand experience with the atonement in the lives of
those around me. Not only do I see the atonement in full effect upon those around me but I also get to see the changes that I have made
with the help of God.
3. I have learned how to manage my life by planning out each day of my mission. I have set goals and have been able to effectivley learn how to
achieve those goals.

Elder Samuel G. Nelson
Assistant to President
Boise, Idaho Mission
05/23/12 - 05/23/14

November 25, 2013

I hope the sealing goes good! I am so excited and proud of Isaac and
Hannah. Are they having a boy or a girl?

We had leadership exchanges this last week, so I went on 3 exchanges
this last week! It was exciting to be out working with some of the
Elders!

I got to teach an awesome couple who are decendents of John Tanner.  We
set a date with Mike Deck and his wife Delane,  we made some ground
with them. I taught with a Stake President who later called me and thanked
me for coming and teaching and said that I did an excellent job of teaching.

We have transfers this next week, which means that 32 new missionaries are coming out into the field! So we are going to have a busy week
getting everything arranged for them. Elder Nicholls goes home this weekend so I will know who my new companion is tomorrow! I am pretty excited about that.

I will keep the Browns in my prayers, I hope everything works out for them.

That is sad to here about the blazer! I hope everything is working out for them, that is hard to lose a car.
Love you all!

Elder Nelson

November 18, 2013

Isaac and Hannah are getting sealed, that is so exciting! I hope everyone is able to make it out to Snowflake.

So during the Boise Temple open house; I got to see Elder Nattress several times while I was serving next to the temple, He actually gave me a hug but I doubt he would ever remember me haha. That is so awesome that you are going around to all the neighbors to invite them out to the open house! I got to take lots of people through the temple for the opening of it!

How was the Zone Conference? I got to be at 3 of them this last week so I was a little worn out at the end of all 3 of them. We have 3 leadership exchanges this week: I will attempt to explain that to you, we have all the leaders in the mission come together to go out with other leaders in the mission, and implement the training that we have received from our president.

So funny story, I was talking to a guy in our ward his name is Tyler Bates. He was talking about his mission in the Philippines, so I had mentioned that I had a friend serve there.... (Bill Katoa). Come to find out they served as companions, and are still in touch. I haven't heard from Bill since my farewell talk, so just this week he got my e-mail and wrote me and gave me a quick update on how things are going. It is such a small world!

So we had the opportunity to teach a guy who was raised Christian but found himself with more questions than answers, so he fell away from any belief in God. But he got invited by a member to learn about the LDS faith! So we got to teach him yesterday and it was so awesome because we were able to answer most of his questions with scriptures from the Book of Mormon. Afterward he expressed his thanks and was excited to meet again next week. I was amazed to see the change that came upon him as we opened the scriptures.

So this week we are going to try and work with Boise State University to set up like a Mormon 101 Class... We will see how that goes this week.

Anyway I love you and am so thankful for all that you do. Love Elder Nelson!

November 11, 2013

Hey Mom,
Thanks again for the pictures!

Elder Nicholls was born and raised in Zimbabwe and came over to do school at BYU, he plays for the rugby team there. He has two brothers that are really good at rugby, his oldest brother is working with the U.S. sevens team and is planning on playing for them.
E-Nicholls has been out for just about 23 months so he will leave in 3 weeks, he is a good guy and one that I would like to keep in touch with after my mission.

This week we have 3 Zone Conferences and a bunch of set lessons, We will be doing 2 companion exchanges with zone leaders and then we have stake conference in our ward this Sunday.

Dinner: You know I couldn't say that I have a favorite dinner meal, I just eat what is placed before me. I have have come to really enjoy fish! In one of the wards that I worked in we had a family that was from Alaska, every summer the father would travel back to Alaska and bring a lot of fish home. After we had met with the family he gave us salmon to go cook! It turned out really good and since I have had a lot of salmon from different places, I would say that my favorite meal is salmon cook right with a good side.

So we have had just miracles happen for us, we have found 4 new people to teach this week. Our teaching has been garbage but we are working through that! We have set some goals and plans to improve.

So just 3 days ago we were teaching 3 girls in our ward, we got started and then all of a sudden there was a knock at the door... It was a guy named Jacque: Jacque came in and we could just tell the point of him coming in was to try and contend with us... We continued teaching the girls, and out of no where Jacque asked a questions "Can someone be spiritual without religion?" in a condescending way... Elder Nicholls answered him, but their where holes in the in answers from Elder Nicholls, so before Jacque could respond I quickly explained what Paul said in a slight varation of my own. 1 COR 12: 14-23. Using this I explained that one could be spiritual but would wither away being by itself just as a arm without the body would wither away. He was silenced and did not try to contend anymore.

I was wondering if I could could get some daily vitamin and whatever else you think would be good...? If that is possible. I will try and send some pictures in a little. Love Elder Nelson!

Elder Nelson called to serve as Assistant to the President

November 5, 2013

Hey I love the pictures and thanks so much for keeping me updated on everything. I am so greatful for you taking your time to do that.

I will fast for Lana this week as well. I hope she is doing good.

I love seeing the pictures that you send, they are always fun to see.

We have been teaching a guy from Columbia his name is Alejandro Hortet; he got introduced to the church through a member on a plane flight from Arizona, she got his information and sent that to us. We have been teaching him for the past two weeks, he came into our next lesson all dressed up like us, in a suit and tie! It was cool to see that our example was being followed by our investigator.

I hope everything is going good. I love you and all you do! Thanks so much for all you do.

I am a little worn this week so my letter is going to be short.

I love you have a wonderful week! Love Elder Samuel Nelson!

October 28, 2013

You would be blown away with the house that we are living in; the assistants have lived there for several years, as you can expect what used to be a house slowly turned into a bachelors pad. The bathroom had mold build up everywhere.  Our President called it the "gym" due to all the weights and work out equipment.  We spent most of last P-day and this morning deep cleaning the house.  We took a truck load of stuff to D.I. It is nice to have a clean house.

We spend a lot of time working on campus and finding people to teach from the members.  We do however talk to everyone it is just hard to get something to come of it without a member involved.
We got to teach 3 girls from all over the country on the soccer team at BSU.   They said they wanted to learn more and had lots of questions for us, so we have 3 new people to teach and focus on.

The suit looks and feels great, I had to buy some new shoes, I have had the same ones for like 6 years haha I was so shocked that they have lasted this long! Thanks for the financial help:)

I just uploaded this talk from Elder Holland and really enjoyed it, I hope you can listen to it. The talk is called "The Best is Yet to Be." It is a great one and one you can send to anyone you think that would enjoy it,\

I am jealous that you got to go on such a fun trip to the Nikken Leadership Convention. I will keep Isaac and Hannah in my prayers. Have a wonderful day.  I love you. Love Elder Samuel Nelson

The Best is yet to Be!

Hope you can listen to this!  Love, Elder Nelson.

October 7, 2013

Hey, thanks for the pictures they are great!
Sad to hear that the Government shut down is affecting the Browns! We here about it here all the time.... Sounds like everyone is doing good.  Hopefully Dan does good with his Wisdom teeth.

That is awesome that Isaac and Hannah went to the temple and are taking that path! So when are they getting sealed?

I know Dad has been excited about his new calling and the things that he is able to accomplish.  He told me that his home teaching for the high priest is 90%-100% which is awesome seeing that we heard a lot about home teaching yesterday

So I had a early transfer this last week; I am now in the office as an assistant to the president! I am serving with Elder Nicholls and Elder Jones until Elder Jones goes home this Friday. We will  be covering 3 Y.S.A. Wards, so this will be new for me. President called me into his office last week and told me that he would like for me to join him in the office and that Elder Jones and Elder Nicholls will both be gone by November 30 so I needed to take good notes.

I was sad to leave my area that I had served in for 7 months. I didn't get to see many people before I left because of the short transfer so I hope I will get to go back and serve in that area!
We already found 2 new investigators this past week in my new area.  We were on our way to an appointment and had a little time to spare so we contacted 2 young women and taught a brief message of the Book of Mormon and set up a return appointment for this week!!! We will see how that goes.

We are an extremely young mission so this will be a great opportunity for me to be the best I can so that they have a good example.

Anyways I will be taking pictures this week so that I can send them to you next week.
I love you and hope everything is going good!

September 30, 2013

Mom,

Thanks for the birthday presents, they arrived this week!
We are super excited about General Conference this weekend, we are trying to get a bunch of investigators out to watch it with us this week.

Those pictures are awesome I love seeing them. It looks like everyone is growing up so fast, I can't believe how big some of the kids have gotten! I can't wait to see them and get to know them when I get back.

Thanks for the family update and the things that they are doing! It is always fun to hear.
Not a lot is new, just working with my companions who are great, I love them.  We have been working very diligently in this work to accomplish much in our area of missionary work.

We have been doing a lot of service this past week and will be doing alot more in the coming week. I will take some pictures so that you can see some of the work that we are doing at this point.

Thanks again for all you do and the wonderful mother you have been in my life. I hear you are an amazing Relief Society President!  You and Dad have been such a blessing for the Ward, I know that Bishop Anderson is glad he has you at this time!

Let me know what I can do for you! Have a wonderful week I look forward to writing you next week.

Love Elder Nelson

September 23, 2013

Hey,
So just a quick experience I had over the week, we had a fireside with Elder Martino of the Seventy and we spent the whole day with him from 8am until 9pm and got to learn alot from him... We were at a dinner appointment and we thought we could try one of the new things we learned, so we invited the family we were having dinner with, to take us next door and introduce us... We had no idea what was going to come of it, we got to know them and got invited back! It was so much easier with a friend who has their foot in the door to just walk over and invite.

I had the wonderful oppurtunity to conduct the meeting with Elder Martino and got to speak with him while we waited to get things started.  He said I had a wonderful countenance and that I did a wonderful job conducting! I was thankful for the time I got to spend with him.

Elder Bateman, Laub and myself have had a good time together!
The only thing that has been tough is home sickness for them, but I have made it a point that if we work and find things to do that home won't even be a thought. We live in an apartment with two other Elders so keeping everyone focused on the work will be a goal of mine.

It is such a privlege and blessing to study the gospel for 2 years; I have been keeping a journal of most of the experiences that I have and the feelings that I am going through at times, which is a blessing in itself; not only do I get to have these experiences but I get to create a habit of recording my personal and spiritual experiences which will benefit me throughout my life!

As a missionary in my area; people have said in my area that they have gained a new respect for the full time Elders and the work they do.  We are seeing things pick up and start to fall in place, people are understanding their calling and the things that they must do to make this work move forward. It is the small help of each member that makes the whole body work proper and in unity.

I love the pictures Dan looks awesome, and Tyler has a huge beard! Max is such a stud, I miss him! I hope you can get Isaac and Hannah moved in ok, but that is exciting to hear that they are planning on getting sealed soon.

You sent an e-mail and it said happy birthday? you know my birthday isn't for two my weeks right? (Lol)

Everything is going good here in Idaho we have tons of service this week, so that will be fun and also lots of teaching appointments!

Thanks for sending the shirts and thanks for being a loving parent who has always set a great example for me. If their is anything I can do for you please let me know I love you and Dad! Say hi to everyone and send my love.

September 16, 2013

Hey,
So cool to hear.  I bet the house (Isaac & Hannah's)  is looking really good now! You will have to send some pictures of the house when it is finished!

I and serving with Elder Laub from Beryl, Utah and am still with Elder Bateman.

Things have been going really well this week, we got to do lots of service and teaching, so we are happy about that!

I got to speak and sing in sacrament this last Sunday which was nice; I also get to conduct a meeting with Elder Martino of the 2nd Quorum of the 70 who is visiting our mission.

This picture is all the Elders staying in our apartment, Elder Bateman and Elder Laub are on the far left side. The two in the middle are Elders Stewart and Elder Tarantino.

Our President has commited us to work on a Christlike attribute this month.  I have chosen 'Humility' so we will see if I can bend my will to the Lord's.  I am excited about this goal.

Anyway, thanks so much for all you have sent me thus far, the powder will be great and anything else you think I might need. I do have a favor to ask you... The long sleve shorts that I have are starting to wear out, could you send me one are two of those? Size is 16 neck and the rest is 32/33. If you can I would greatly appreciate that. Thanks again!
In the other picture we just got done mowing a lawn for an investigator, it is a big lawn.
I will let you know how this next week. Love Elder Nelson

September 4, 2013

Hey mom,

Thanks for the updates on everyone and the pictures. I wanted to let you know that I have plenty of ciaga and mens vitamins to last me 3 months, so you do not need to send more.

Elder Dees just went home onTuesday so I am with a visa waiter for a little and then transfers happen this Monday so we will see how that goes.

I wanted to ask you what I would need to do to get started at MCC right when I get home? I figure now would be a good time to start planning for school.  I have been thinking about it and would like to major in English and then proceed my education into the medical field... I want to keep moving forward as soon as I get home, that way I can continue to have a stellar schedule and study habit. I am a little behind and haven't been in school for awhile but I know " I can do all things through Christ Jesus who stengtheneth me."

Anyway everything is going good.  I got to give a blessing the other day to a child that was really sick, it was so amazing! The child was crying and in pain and as soon as I laid my hands on his head he ceased to cry and began to fall asleep as I started to speak. It was so awesome, I am loving the people here that I get to serve around and the wonderful time I have to share the gospel.

Thanks to you and everyone else I have been blessed in my life and have been given this opportunity to be here.

Love Elder Samuel Nelson

So Good to hear from you!

I am still in Amity and I do write my adventures down daily.  I am doing all I can to improve.

I am sorry this has to be so short, I was writing the President and my e-mail to him got deleted so I had to start over...

I love you and thank you so much for all you do
Love Elder Nelson!!!

August 19, 2013

Hey,

We had a wonderful week.  One of our investigators made us each a blanket  She has been searching out the truth in the scriptures and other things.  We have had a wonderful time working with her. Her name is Cindy Allen and she also has had us come do some service at her house. That is the picture of us below.

Elder Dees and I have been doing great, we have both seen people learn and grow and have built great relationships with members.

Great week ahead of us, lots of work and things to get done. Thanks for all you do I look forward to the meal replacement and all the other things you do for me!
P.S.! Thanks so much for the Belt and everything else you do.

Have a great week Love Elder Samuel G. Nelson

Wednesday, August 14, 2013

August 12, 2013

Hey!
So sorry I was unable to write you last week... we ran out of time to write.  We had to drive alot and rush to do other things so I was not able to write an e-mail.
Everything is going really well,  I am with Elder Dees from Florida and we are still serving in the Amity stake, which is part Meridian and Boise.
We got to speak this week and did pretty well as well as next week I will be speaking... I might end up speaking twice in two different wards which would be a good challenge.

So I wrote Dad a letter that is on its way and will be there shortly, I wrote about us having dinner with a Tongan family who gives us tons of food. Every Sunday they have family over for a feast and it is always an open invite for the missionaries.

We are getting along just fine at this point and are finding lots of work to do as we rely on the leadership of the wards to find and set up appointments.  I have spent alot of time tracting and have come to know for myself that it does not work and that working through the members is alot easier.

Anyway, all I can say is that my personal skills have improved and I have grown alot since I first got out on my mission and will continue to learn and improve my skills. I have been supported by the Lord and truly see as He said in Ether 12:27, I give men weakness that they may be humble, if they humble themselves before me and have faith in me, then will I make weak things become strong unto them. That is not all of the scripture but it is sufficient for the purposes of my explanation of how the Lord is working with me and helping me overcome my weaknesses.

I was also able to write Starshine and hope to hear back from her.

Once again Sorry about not writting you last week, I love you and will do better at explaning what is going on and the things that are happening in my area. Love Elder Samuel G. Nelson!

August 20, 2012

Sounds like everyone is doing so good!

Isaac is still with Hanna that is awesome! Dan is doing Tile? is working with a friend or what?

Tell everyone I love them, The mission is great i am having a blast. I will keep you informed on anything that happens.
Let me know if isaac seals the deal. Is hanna a member? if so are they planning on entering the temple?

Dear Elder Nelson,
I am very grateful for your desire to serve the Lord.   Your mission will give you a great foundation for life.
Sounds like you are really doing good and learning every day.
I think that you are happiest when you are serving as a missionary, I remember when you were working at the
apartments on Warner avenue.   Your pictures all look good and it is so exciting to get a baptism.

We are all doing good.  Sara and Reed have moved to a new place on an acre and half.  It's nice and they are
working on it to really make it beautiful.   Isaac is still going with Hanna and I think that they will get married this
spring.  Daniel is up in St. George and is making good money laying tile.  He works from like 7:00 am to 6 pm
5 days a week.    John is here with us in Gilbert and is studying with mom and goes to Seminary every day.
Emma is growing up wonderfully and is a joy to have at home, as John is usually gone with friends.

We are praying for you on your mission.  So we hope you are blessed with bold faith and a powerful
testimony to teach the gospel.

        Love you,            Dad

October 15, 2012

Hey,

So the temple just opened up i am hoping a lot of people start asking questions! We will see how it goes, my area has been kinda dead for awhile, the people just do not like us here! But some are having their hearts softened:) I just hope we can see a lot more people come to the temple. No complaints on my part just loving the work. How about at 18 years of age John can be a missionary? Is he Excited?

(Picture) So the Ladies in my ward invited us out to Ladies night at Chuck-a-Rama! So I had to get some pictures to send you guys they are so awesome;)

April 1, 2013

Hey,
So yeah I love sharing the gospel it is such a blessing to have it. My gospel knowledge is very good, I have been blessed to be able to study so much.
We are the South Meridian Zone, which takes in Meridian west and south stakes, also paramount and the amity stake. We are over 2 districts which is 8 companionships. I am not positive how many zone leaders there are, maybe 20. I do have magsteps and I wear them every day! I have been so blessed,

Because I have a good understanding of the scriptures, that is growing day by day I am able to lay many scriptures before people and plant a seed of faith. Some reap some sow.

Elder Porras lived in St. George. I knew his older brother from church, they lived in our stake! He is just finishing his mission and is awesome. I have learned a lot from him. He is a good missionary and is a great example to all the Elders we are serving with.

I am a lot more busy now, hopefully I will still be able to write you as often as I have. I am improving in a lot of ways.

I am loving this time out here. I will try to send pictures here shortly, let me know if I can do anything. Thanks for all you do Dad! Love Elder Nelson

More July 29, 2013

Mom, thanks for the pictures they look so good!
We just had a transfer and I am serving with Elder Dees who is from Florida and is going home in the next 5 weeks.  He has had a harder mission but is ready to go so I am looking forward to working with him.

Looks like John is getting ready to leave to Paris! That is so exciting.
Also I heard Lana is staying with you while she figures things out, I hope she is doing good.

Anyway we are serving hard and talking to everyone we cross and just staying busy opening our mouths to declare the restoration of the Gospel.
Thanks for alll you do I love you so much.
Love Elder Nelson

July 29, 2013

Yeah it sounded like you had a wonderful time with the family. I am so glad john is getting ready to get out to Paris! That is good to hear that Isaac was made an Elder! Him and Hannah are getting ready to get sealed right?

I am doing all I can to pray and ask for the gift of discernment.  It is just hard because some of the missionaries I serve with are very fast and want quick answers and results and forget to be patient in this work and the Lord with give you success.
I have been doing all I can to work hard and be an example with love and care to all people and companion. :)
Everything is going great here. The members love us and we are getting them excited about sharing the gospel.
Sorry my E-mails aren't to long, just letting you know that this work is going great and I love it. I will continue to fast and pray for the spirit of discernment and do all I can to build up the Kingdom.

July 22, 2013

Hey that is wonderful!  So is cindy living up north now? Where is Brian at?
Also, I am not able to see any comments on my page.

This week we were able to find alot more people to teach and we are going out with President Winder today to go teach so that should be fun.
We are having a good time working together and serving the Lord. I have been blessed to share the gospel as much as I do.
How is John doing? I would love to see his e-mails to you each week...?
I hope everyone is doing well, tell them I love them. Say hi to Eli and the kids for me.
I love you, Send me some pictures if you can that would be awesome.

I can tell you that I am going to be a little sad to leave this area cause of all the hard work I have done here. The ward members have really enjoyed me being here, and all those who we have helped draw closer to the Lord.

I have started to do personal fast throughout the week and have seen some great things happen.

I thank you for all that you do and love you so much! Thanks for all the love and patience you had with me as I was growing up.

Let me know if I can do anything for you. Love you again.

Hey Mom,

Sounds great!  I am so thankful for all that you do and the time that you spend visiting family.  I know they are loving the time they spend with you.

I had a great week and am loving the area I am serving in. we have been asked to teach at church alot, and have found many people to teach as we have been going around finding them.  Elder Usevitch has been great and is a hard working Elder, we are doing a lot of good here.

We have interviews this week so it will be the first time I get to sit with preisdent winder and get to know him.

I am having a great time serving as a zone leader and a trainer in the Amity stake center.

I am sorry I was not able to write Dad this week, I am working out our schedule to see if  we can get more time to write and e mail. it seems that we end up playing sports way to long and have no time to e-mail or write.  So we talked about it today and it is something that we are going to change.

Say hi to everyone for me!  I am writing John right now, seems like he is doing really good. I will keep on writing him.  Let me know if I need to write him anything to uplift or encourage. Anyway I love you and am so thankful for all the time and devotion you spend with everyone. You make a huge change in so many people's lives and are so helping to those who stand in need.

I am going to try and write dad in 10 mins before I have to go out and start getting ready to work.

Hey,
I hope all the traveling is going good. I am writting dad a letter and will send it asap. Also, you can tell dad that it was his uncle that played at the Y. Elder Usevitch has been a blessing.  He is a hard working missionary that has helped me improve in many ways.  I am so greatful to be training him. He is sharp and ready to work.

We have been working with Nate Sparks former quarterback for the Boise State Broncos.  He has had a little contact with the local missionaries and is super nice. Hopefully we can bring him closer to Christ.

Let's see, we have had a wonderful time teaching people here in the area, I feel bad cause when I first got Elder Usevitch we had tons of work to do. But the last two weeks have just been a drag, just dropped appointments!

So the wards are having us teach classes which makes Sundays so fun; we got to teach in three different wards, High Priest in one ward, Elders quorum, and the Primary. Haha, it was a fun Sunday, we are getting to know alot of the members really well because we are working with them so much.

I will send pictures next week and let you know how things are going. Love Elder Nelson

So we have had a wonderful transfer and are super excited about the new mission president that is coming.

At times the work gets a little hard, but I have been blessed this whole time.  We have just had some wonderful experiences, we have made it a goal to talk to everyone and we have found several new people to teach.

Love Elder Nelson!

Hey So I am staying in the Boise Mission and will training a new missionary!
So excited to be apart of this split and all the wonderful things going on right now, I am sad to see President Cannon go but I am looking forward to work with President Winder! He is from the Salt Lake Area.

Sounds like the Family is doing really good! I will keep them in my prayers. Tell John Happy Birthday!
He looks like a little model in his grad pictures! He will be such a great missionary, so crazy to see him leaving and serving the Lord!

I am so excited about the work in our area and the Love the memebers here have for us we have made a complete 180 in the area!
I am amazed and filled with such a joy to see the people to whom I am Laboring draw closer to the Lord. I am also so greatful for the support I am given on a day to day basis; though at times I get few hours of sleep I am restless as the day goes forward. I have been so blessed to have truths revealed to me and also treasure the knowledge that the Lord has given me and yet to has given me.

I hope all is well! Tell the family I love them and will write them very soon,  tell emma she will do so good in school she is so smart!

Love Elder Nelson! P.S. Happy Fathers Day To Dad Tell him I love him!
Also Let Maria know that doing a blog for me would be great thanks!

Sorry I wasn't able to write on Monday. I got transfered to Meridian it is right outside Boise. I was just made a Zone Leader... I am serving with Elder Oldando Porras from St. George UT, his family was in the same stake and I knew him back there.

If you can make it known to anyone that sends a letter or Box to send it to the mission office 1111 S Cole Rd. Bosie, ID 83709. That way the mail will always get to me.

I am super excited about this transfer. How is John's French going thus far? Is he Mastering it?

Also I heard some members from the area I was serving in started writing you an E-Mails? They asked for your e-mail and then I never heard back.

Good luck in your talk you will do amazing! Tell John he will do great! I miss you all and thank you so much for all you have done for me.

I have had such a great week and it is just getting better and better as I go forward. I am so grateful for this time I get to spend out here.

I was reading the First Epistle of John and one thing I noticed and have cherished from this read was in chapter 1:1-3. They had seen the Lord and "Handled" Him. Yet the point of an apostle is to testify of Christ that he is the only Begotten and that he is the Living God, John tells us this and is a eye witness of the Lord. One other point of many as I was reading was in chapter 2:1-3 that if any man sins he can repent and we have a Mediator with the Father that is Jesus. If we obey and keep his commandments we know him. I like these because anyone can come to know the Father as they exercise faith and repent. Repentance is granted to all, in that he appeased the demands of justice and took upon him our sins "and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world."

I love you and hope everything is going great I know that you will be and are a great RSP (Relief Society President)!  Tell Everyone I said hi! Tell Dad I love him and Love you too! Thanks again!

Christmas 2012

Dear family,

We had a fun visit with Sam (Elder Nelson) on Christmas Day.
Jake uses Skype frequently, so we set that up for the call.
He looks healthy and happy.

He is working with members with his companion, Elder Smith.  Elder Smith has been out 4 weeks and Elder Nelson is the Trainer/Senior Companion.  It is a car area, Sam does the driving though admits Elder Smith has a better driving record.  Elder Smith is older (24)and is from New Hampshire.  We were able to meet him also.  Sam said that there are many older elders out there.  ( A shout out to all who are older than 19) The younger missionaries are not coming until early next year.

The Elders live in an apartment built on to a garage at the Wardell family in KImberly, Idaho.  The town has 8 wards and they work with 4 of them.

They had several places to go on Christmas Day, so they planned a full day besides talking with us.  It was fun as we witnessed our family come to the call area and visit with Sam.  They basically asked some of the same questions, but in different ways.  When we had about 5 minutes left, we all gathered around the computer and sang Sam's request of "Angels We Have Heard on High" and finished with a rendition of "We Wish you a Merry Christmas."

When we got home there was a card from the Wardells waiting for us.  I will quote from the card.

"We wanted to let you know how grateful we are to you for raising such a wonderful young man.  Your son, Elder Nelson, is living with us and we have grown to love and respect him greatly.  He is doing an awesome job as a Senior/training companion to Elder Smith, who is a convert of 3 years and a past Jehovah's Witness.  Hope you have a wonderful Christmas season and know that your son is well and is a blessing to us all. Dan and Cherie Wardell"

Just wanted to share an update
